Montreal Canadiens prospects are poised to embark on new chapters in their hockey careers with various destinations awaiting them for the upcoming season.

Transitioning from the amateur to the professional hockey realm presents a significant challenge as young players confront seasoned adversaries in a heightened level of competition. Within this landscape, several Canadiens prospects from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) are set to make waves.

One notable prospect is Owen Beck, a center with the Saginaw Spirit, expected to transition earnestly into professional hockey after a brief recall by the Canadiens in the 2022-23 season. Beck’s scoring capabilities, particularly evident in the latter half of the previous season, showcase his potential. While an NHL trajectory remains plausible, a stint with the Laval Rocket in the AHL could also be on the cards. Similarly, forward Filip Mesar, though having already experienced two seasons of professional hockey in Slovakia, might join Beck in the AHL following a solid season with the Kitchener Rangers.

Florian Xhekaj, despite potential attendance at the Montreal Canadiens development camp, is likely to return to the OHL with the Brantford Bulldogs. Cedrick Guindon’s future remains uncertain, pending a contract offer from the Canadiens, with his production history raising deliberation. Meanwhile, Lane Hutson’s promising performance suggests a potential NHL roster spot, although AHL involvement could aid in his development. Luke Tuch is poised to start in Laval to adapt to professional hockey, while David Reinbacher’s progress suggests AHL refinement before NHL consideration.

Adam Engstrom, a Swedish prospect, may sign an entry-level contract with the Canadiens, possibly followed by a loan to a European club. Similarly, Oliver Kapanen might be loaned to Timra in the SHL if unable to secure a spot with the Canadiens. Finally, goaltender Yevgeni Volokhin’s stellar performance in the MHL warrants progression to the VHL levels for the upcoming season.
