I have a strong feeling that Buffalo Bills fans are going to appreciate having Elijah Moore on the roster. Shortly after the conclusion of the NFL Draft last week, the Bills quickly arranged a free agent visit with Moore. Just two days after that visit, both sides agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth up to $5 million.

New York Giants v Cleveland Browns

Moore arrives in Buffalo after four turbulent years with the Jets and Browns. Initially drafted by New York, his dissatisfaction with a limited role led to a trade to Cleveland. While he found more success there, he still dealt with instability due to a constant rotation of quarterbacks. Now, he gets a fresh start and a significant upgrade at quarterback in Josh Allen.

He joins a wide receiver group that had some speed but lacked a true deep threat. Moore brings the ability to stretch the field and open things up for the offense. But it turns out his impact might not be limited to just the offensive side of the ball.

Bills May Have Gotten a Two-for-One in Elijah Moore

According to Alex Brasky, Moore told the media he’s eager for “more opportunities to return kicks,” highlighting that having the ball in his hands is one of his greatest strengths.

The Bills have a well-known affinity for versatile players who can create competition across multiple phases of the game. With Moore’s interest in contributing on special teams and catching passes from Allen, general manager Brandon Beane may have landed a player capable of making an impact in two key areas.

Of course, Buffalo already has return specialists Laviska Shenault and Brandon Codrington on the roster, but Moore’s presence could raise the level of competition during training camp. Under new special teams coordinator Chris Tabor, a unit that’s been average might just take a big step forward with Moore in the mix.

While Moore is expected to play a key role in the offense, it certainly doesn’t hurt to explore his potential on special teams. There’s even a possibility he could become both a starting receiver and return man. This summer’s training camp will offer plenty of answers.
