The Baltimore Ravens have signed 17 undrafted rookie free agents and are evaluating more during tryouts. Among those signed, The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec and Sports Illustrated’s Joshua Reed highlighted a few with a realistic shot at earning a spot on the 53-man roster.

Jay Higgins, ILB, Iowa
Higgins stood out in college as a highly productive linebacker, leading the FBS with 295 total tackles over the past two seasons. Though he lacks ideal size and speed at 6-foot, 224 pounds, Zrebiec noted that Higgins’ high football IQ, instincts, and special teams experience give him a legitimate chance to make the team. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler had him ranked as the 22nd-best inside linebacker in the draft and projected him to go in the sixth or seventh round.

Undrafted DL Jones Also in the Mix
Joshua Reed identified another potential breakout candidate on the defensive line, praising his strength, violent hands, and resistance to double-teams. Reed emphasized that his preseason performances—especially the final exhibition game—will be critical to determining if he makes the cut, similar to how Michael Pierce earned his roster spot years ago.

Roster Needs Still Under Review
In the aftermath of the draft, Jonas Shaffer from The Banner Ravens Podcast discussed the Ravens’ remaining roster questions:

  • Offensive Line (Left Side): Ronnie Stanley’s return is a key factor. Andrew Vorhees is another name to watch as he steps into a bigger role. Though unproven, early reviews from coaches and teammates are positive. He’ll be tested in camp against top defenders like Travis Jones and Justin Madubuike.
  • Wide Receivers: With most offensive starters returning, Shaffer feels confident about the unit’s depth. Tylan Wallace showed reliability last season, while rookies Devontez Walker and LaJohntay Wester offer upside. Combined with strong depth at tight end and fullback, the Ravens’ offensive roster appears well-rounded.
  • Inside Linebacker: The middle of the defense is a concern. Although Roquan Smith remains a key piece, his supporting cast—particularly Trenton Simpson—struggled at times. Data suggests Roquan wasn’t the problem, but Baltimore still needs someone reliable next to him who understands zone coverage and pattern recognition.

Rookie to Watch: Carson Vinson
CBS Sports’ Bryan DeArdo spotlighted fifth-round offensive lineman Carson Vinson as a sleeper to monitor during rookie camp. At 6-foot-7 and 321 pounds, the Alabama A&M standout impressed against top-tier opponents like Vanderbilt and Auburn, boosting his draft stock. With third-round lineman Emery Jones Jr. sidelined by a labrum injury, Vinson may have a real chance to climb the depth chart early.
