$72 million Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf might be on the move from the Seattle Seahawks in a significant trade during this offseason. Speculation is brewing, especially with the Steelers actively pursuing a top-tier receiver, including Metcalf, Brandon Aiyuk, and Courtland Sutton. The Steelers’ interest in Metcalf is heightened by his previous connection with Russell Wilson.

Acquiring any of these receivers would significantly strengthen the Steelers’ offense, especially after losing a veteran offensive piece. While trading Metcalf would align with the Seahawks’ rebuilding phase under new head coach Mike Macdonald, it remains contingent on the right offer. Sources suggest a potential Metcalf trade post-June 1, which helps teams manage dead money against their salary cap.

Aiyuk and Sutton have higher chances of being traded due to salary cap constraints, but Metcalf’s trade talks could intensify, especially given his lack of contract concerns. The possibility of a Metcalf trade isn’t far-fetched, considering past blockbuster trades like Stefon Diggs to the Texans. Seattle stands to gain significant cap space if they trade Metcalf after June 1.

Despite the Steelers’ interest, the Seahawks have rebuffed any inquiries regarding Metcalf, signaling their reluctance to trade him. Speculation about the Steelers pursuing Tyler Lockett in a trade before the draft further underscores their quest for a playmaking receiver.

The Seahawks would likely demand a substantial package, potentially including three first-round picks, for a Metcalf trade to materialize. Reuniting Lockett with Wilson in Pittsburgh would be monumental, potentially eclipsing previous headline-grabbing trades.

Other teams that could be viable trade partners for Metcalf include the Chargers, Saints, and Ravens. The Chargers, despite signing DJ Chark, could view Metcalf as a transformative addition to bolster Justin Herbert’s offense. The Saints’ lack of proven receiving talent makes them a potential destination, while the Ravens seek a veteran replacement for Odell Beckham Jr. in their wide receiver corps, making Metcalf an enticing option for Lamar Jackson’s Super Bowl aspirations.
