Good News: Montreal Canadiens sign superstar to three-year contract

The Montreal Canadiens have inked defenseman Adam Engström to a three-year entry-level deal commencing from the upcoming season. Engström’s journey with Rögle has seen its share of highs and lows. While he initially showcased his offensive prowess last season, this year has seen him focus on refining his defensive abilities, a crucial aspect for his professional trajectory.

Despite Rögle’s overall season struggles, which saw them clawing for a playoff berth before embarking on an unexpected journey to the SHL Final, Engström maintained a consistent performance. Notching 22 points (4 goals and 18 assists) in 51 regular-season games, his development seemed steady, albeit tempered by the team’s challenges. His playoff contributions amounted to four assists in 15 games.

Engström’s versatility as a sizable defenseman capable of playing both sides became evident, particularly towards the season’s end, as he adapted to playing on his off side. Paired with Brandon Davidson, he formed a dependable defensive duo crucial for Rögle’s late-season push.

Now poised for his inaugural NHL training camp, Engström enters the fray as one of many vying for coveted spots on the team’s defensive roster. Selected in the third round, 92nd overall, in the 2022 NHL Draft, Engström faces the task of proving himself amidst stiff competition for roster berths.
