AC Milan appears to be considering potential replacements for current head coach Stefano Pioli, whose tenure with the club seems to be drawing to a close. Following Milan’s recent defeats against AS Roma and subsequent elimination from the Europa League quarter-finals, speculation regarding Pioli’s future has intensified.

Reports suggest that AC Milan’s management, comprising owner Gerry Cardinale, senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and other directors, are actively evaluating candidates to usher in a new era for the club. However, reaching a unanimous decision among the leadership has proven challenging.

It appears increasingly likely that Milan’s next manager will be recruited from outside Italy. While Julen Lopetegui’s name surfaced as a potential candidate, he did not garner unanimous support from the club’s decision-makers. Nevertheless, there is interest in Manuel Pellegrini, the former manager of Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Pellegrini, renowned for his distinguished international coaching career, has notably demonstrated his adeptness at fostering a balanced blend of seasoned players and emerging talents during his tenure at Real Betis. Despite being previously linked with the AS Roma job, recent developments suggest that Roma may extend Daniele De Rossi’s contract, leaving the door open for Pellegrini’s potential move to Milan.

Currently under contract with Real Betis until 2026, Pellegrini’s availability is underscored by a release clause in his agreement. With an extensive coaching resume, including spells in charge of Betis and achievements such as winning the Premier League with Manchester City and the Copa del Rey with Real Betis, Pellegrini presents a compelling option for AC Milan’s coaching position.
