Kolten Wong, formerly of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has inked a new deal with a National League West rival, the Arizona Diamondbacks. The agreement, announced by the Reno Aces, the Diamondbacks’ Triple-A affiliate, marks Wong’s latest move in his baseball journey.
Wong’s stint with the Dodgers began in the latter half of the 2023 season when he joined the team in mid-August on a minor league contract. The 33-year-old infielder was subsequently added to the 40-man roster on Sept. 1, making an impactful debut by smashing a three-run home run in his first at-bat. During his tenure with the Dodgers, Wong featured in 20 games and boasted impressive stats with a .300 batting average, .353 on-base percentage, .500 slugging percentage, and an .853 OPS.
Prior to his brief stint with the Dodgers, Wong had spent the majority of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals before transitioning to various teams. This included two seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers and a portion of the 2023 season with the Seattle Mariners.
Wong’s journey continued in February 2024 when he signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles. However, he exercised the opt-out clause in his contract a month later, leading to his release by Baltimore two days thereafter. With this latest move to the Diamondbacks’ Triple-A affiliate, Wong aims to earn a spot on the major league roster, though he may initially establish himself in Triple-A to showcase his skills.
