AC Milan’s prospects of securing Alessandro Buongiorno, a central defender, have improved, according to recent developments. Milan’s need for reinforcement in this position has been apparent throughout the season. Reports indicate that Simon Kjaer is likely to leave the club, while Pierre Kalulu’s frequent injuries may lead to his departure in the summer. Despite Matteo Gabbia’s return in January, Milan’s eagerness to bolster their defensive lineup remains undiminished.

Before the January transfer window, Milan had expressed strong interest in Buongiorno, and their admiration for him persists. The club is reportedly planning another attempt to sign him in the upcoming window. Recent reports suggest that Buongiorno is ready to take the next step in his career, with both Inter and Milan leading the race for his signature, indicating a concrete possibility of a move.

However, Calciomercato.com has stated that Buongiorno’s price has increased since January, now standing at €40 million compared to the previously quoted range of €30-35 million. Despite interest from the Premier League, Buongiorno is said to prefer a move to an Italian club.

Furthermore, Milan had previously offered Buongiorno a contract earlier in the season, which he did not reject outright. Instead, he expressed loyalty to his current club, suggesting a potential advantage for Milan, particularly if their interest in him has grown.
