Aged 31, Mostert is coming off a stellar NFL season, earning his inaugural Pro Bowl nod. He achieved this milestone by amassing a career-best 1,012 rushing yards, surpassing the Dolphins’ franchise record with 21 touchdowns, three more than Mark Clayton’s 1984 record.

Sources from NFL Network suggest that Mostert’s new deal could reach a value of up to $9.075 million. Mostert’s NFL journey has seen him play for four different teams in his initial two seasons before settling with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016. Following six seasons with the 49ers, which included a Super Bowl appearance in 2019, Mostert joined coach Mike McDaniel in Miami on a one-year contract. This period marked the zenith of his career thus far.

In the 2022 season, Mostert led Miami in rushing with 891 yards. His success continued in 2023, making him the Dolphins’ first 1,000-yard rusher since Jay Ajayi achieved the milestone with 1,272 yards in 2016. Furthermore, Mostert became the first player in his 30s to surpass 1,000 rushing yards since Adrian Peterson did so with Washington in 2018 at the age of 33.
