Manchester United have identified AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez as a potential target for the upcoming summer transfer window. With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both sidelined due to injuries, United are exploring options to strengthen their left-back position.

Shaw has been plagued by muscular injuries throughout the season and is expected to remain sidelined until the final weeks of the campaign. Meanwhile, Malacia has yet to make an appearance this season due to a knee ligament issue, raising concerns about his availability for the rest of the season.

In light of these circumstances, manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly interested in securing a new left-back who can offer reliability and consistent availability. Reports suggest that United are willing to offer €60 million to persuade Milan to part ways with Hernandez, although Paris Saint-Germain is also reportedly interested in the 26-year-old defender.

However, it is unlikely that United will make such a significant investment in a new left-back, especially considering their current financial constraints due to Financial Fair Play regulations. The club may face further financial limitations if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Instead, United may focus on more cautious spending and look for emerging talents to strengthen their squad. While Hernandez has been impressive for Milan this season, contributing five goals and 10 assists in 38 appearances, United are more likely to prioritize signing a right-sided central defender.

Therefore, despite the speculation surrounding Hernandez’s potential move to United, it seems unlikely that a deal will materialize. The rumors may be fueled by agents aiming to negotiate a contract extension for Hernandez with Milan. His current contract with the Rossoneri expires in the summer of 2026.
