Newcastle United’s goalkeeper, Loris Karius, has hinted at a potential move to Italy this summer as his contract with the club is set to expire. The 30-year-old has engaged the services of the Italian-based agency Circum, indicating his intentions for the future. Since joining Newcastle as a free agent in 2022, Karius has had limited opportunities, making only two competitive appearances for the club. Despite his desire for more playing time, he has been relegated to third choice behind Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka, featuring only when they were unavailable.

Karius’s decision to work with Circum, led by Alessandro Tocci and former Juventus and Italy midfielder Claudio Marchisio, suggests his interest in exploring options in Serie A. His partner and child are currently residing in Italy, further fueling speculation about a potential move.

Expressing his thoughts on a potential transfer, Karius mentioned, “Of course, it would be a great solution if there were good options for me, regardless of proximity to my family.” He acknowledged the challenges he faced at Newcastle due to limited playing time but expressed confidence in his ability to reclaim a starting role. Despite the difficulties of being a goalkeeper, Karius remains determined to stay positive and focused on his goal of returning to regular action.

With Dubravka currently occupying the goalkeeping position at Newcastle and Pope expected to return soon, it’s uncertain if Karius will feature again for the club. However, his comments suggest he’s open to exploring opportunities elsewhere to reignite his career.
