BREAKING NEWS: Proposed Offseason Bulls Trade Lands $177 Million Former All-Star

The Chicago Bulls have been contemplating trading Zach LaVine for quite some time, without success due to various reasons. Could they now be considering a trade for another polarizing, often-injured All-Star?

Bulls trade update: Zach LaVine faces trade rumors head-on - Chicago Sun-Times

According to Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz, the Brooklyn Nets could be an ideal destination for LaVine, given their need for scoring and lack of incentive to tank. Swartz suggests that if LaVine returns to his All-Star form after foot surgery, he could serve as the primary scorer and playmaker for the Nets alongside their defensive talent, including Mikal Bridges and Nic Claxton.

In this hypothetical trade scenario proposed by Swartz, the Bulls would acquire Ben Simmons along with draft picks from the Nets in exchange for LaVine. Simmons, a former No. 1 overall pick and three-time All-Star, has faced challenges with injuries and performance decline in recent seasons. However, his inclusion in the trade brings the added benefit of his contract entering its final year, worth $177.2 million.

The potential trade package also includes draft assets, notably a first-round pick from the Dallas Mavericks, which could hold significant value considering uncertainties surrounding Luka Doncic’s future.

The Bulls’ attempts to trade LaVine have been hindered by his foot injury and contract size, which could be alleviated by acquiring Simmons and clearing significant salary space. Lonzo Ball’s contract is also a factor, but concerns about his recovery progress have surfaced, potentially impacting the team’s plans.

Overall, the Bulls are exploring options to improve their roster dynamics, considering both short-term and long-term implications.
