The NFC East is experiencing changes with coaching staff transitions, as exemplified by the recent moves in the NFL Coaching Carousel. Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has taken over as the head coach for the Washington Commanders, while former Commanders boss Ron Rivera is reportedly considering filling Quinn’s former position at The Star. The Philadelphia Eagles have also made a significant coaching change, bringing in former Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to replace the dismissed Brian Johnson.

In response to Moore’s hiring, Eagles star receivers DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown shared their expectations during an appearance on Kay Adams’ “Up & Adams” show. They expressed their “one wish” for Moore in the upcoming season, which revolves around letting them showcase their skills and simply getting them the ball. Smith emphasized the desire for Moore to allow them the freedom to excel in their respective roles. The comments, made with a hint of humor, were interpreted as a subtle jab at the departed Johnson.

Brown concluded the previous season with impressive stats, recording 106 catches for 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns. However, his streak of 100-yard receiving games declined after the eighth week, showcasing just one more for the remainder of the season. Smith, on the other hand, finished with 81 catches for 1,066 yards and seven scores. In the absence of Brown during the Wild Card matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Smith delivered a standout performance with 148 yards on eight catches, albeit in a lopsided defeat.

The reaction of Smith and Brown, marked by laughter, has raised eyebrows, potentially adding to the perception of a “dysfunctional” and “miserable” Eagles locker room. The apparent levity in responding to questions about their previous coach might be seen as unprofessional, posing a challenge for new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to navigate and address within the team.
