NFL Teams Mock Cowboys Over Controversial George Pickens Trade Rumor

The Dallas Cowboys’ coaching staff faces a tough road ahead in 2025 after a disappointing 2024 season plagued by injuries and inconsistent play. With a healthy Dak Prescott and star receiver CeeDee Lamb, fans are hopeful for a playoff rebound. However, one rumored roster move has stirred mixed reactions.

Reports surfaced that multiple NFL teams “laughed” at the idea of trading for Steelers wide receiver George Pickens, with several organizations reportedly unwilling to bring him into their locker rooms due to concerns about his behavior and attitude. According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, Pickens was quietly made available during the draft, but interest across the league was minimal—even at the cost of a mid-round pick.

One NFL insider noted that the very idea of acquiring Pickens was dismissed by several teams who viewed him as a potential locker room distraction.

Despite the skepticism, Pickens remains confident and eager to prove doubters wrong. Speaking on a recent conference call, the 24-year-old receiver expressed excitement about joining a new team, saying, “I feel great. I like the mojo here. I like the swag. I’ve been meeting a lot of new players. I feel like they have a good thing going, for sure.”

He also denied ever asking the Steelers for a trade, even though fans speculated otherwise after he unfollowed the team on Instagram earlier in the offseason.
