Nebraska is set to hire John Butler, a veteran coach with extensive college and professional experience, as their new secondary coach, according to a report. Formerly with Penn State and Minnesota, Butler will replace Evan Cooper, who resigned earlier this week for personal reasons, as reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Saturday morning.

Butler’s impressive resume includes serving as the defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator for the Buffalo Bills from 2018 to 2023. He previously held the position of secondary coach with the Houston Texans from 2014 to 2017, and was Penn State’s secondary coach in 2012 and 2013 under Bill O’Brien, adding the role of defensive coordinator in 2013.
