Breaking: Utah secures a commitment from top in-state prospect Cyrus Polu. Head coach Kyle Whittingham’s football team received their eighth commitment this month and their 10th for the 2025 class as St. George (UT) Desert Hills three-star linebacker Cyrus Polu announced his decision to join the University of Utah.

Polu visited Salt Lake City over the weekend for his final official visit after a busy month of trips to various programs. Utah managed to outcompete schools like Washington, UCLA, BYU, Arizona State, and Arizona for his commitment. Polu shared his decision on X (formerly Twitter).

According to 247Sports, Polu is rated as an 88 three-star, ranking as the No. 5 player in Utah and the No. 66 linebacker nationally for the 2025 class. The 247Sports Composite gives him a .8789 rating, positioning him as the No. 60 linebacker in the class and No. 4 in the state.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Polu has an excellent frame and athleticism. His background as a safety contributes to his strong coverage skills and playmaking instincts, making him a valuable addition to Utah’s roster.

With Polu’s commitment, he becomes the 10th pledge for the 2025 class and the sixth on the defensive side. He joins quarterback Wyatt Becker, tight end Drew Clemens, offensive lineman Soren Shinofield, defensive ends Nela Tupou and Max Fonoimoana, defensive linemen Karson Kaufusi and Sione Motuapuaka, linebacker Christian Thatcher, and athlete JJ Buchanan. Utah is off to a strong start in this recruiting cycle, gaining significant momentum.
