Report: Five-star commit reveals why he chose Alabama football over Georgia, Texas

Five-star commit Dijon Lee has revealed why he chose Alabama football over Georgia and Texas.

The University of Alabama football program is entering a new era under head coach Kalen DeBoer. Alabama has been one of the most successful programs in college football under Nick Saban, who remains closely associated with the team. The Crimson Tide recently added another top recruit to their class, as four-star cornerback Dijon Lee announced his commitment to Alabama. Lee made his decision public during a live stream on 247Sports’ YouTube channel at 2:30 PM ET today. He is ranked as the fourth-best cornerback prospect in the nation.

During his announcement, Lee explained why he chose Alabama over other top programs.

“The reason why I picked Alabama was because I had a great relationship with all of the coaches and players,” Lee told 247Sports. “When I went there, I connected right away and it just felt like home.”

Lee had previously expressed his enthusiasm about the possibility of joining Alabama.

“All I can say is it’s just different out there,” he had told 247Sports. “Everything about the place is different than anywhere I’ve been before. The tradition and all the National Championships they have is crazy and they put more players into the league (NFL) than anyone.”

Lee, who played high school football in Mission Viejo, California, took official visits to Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Washington, and Alabama. His visit to Alabama included a multi-day stay in Tuscaloosa from June 21-23, marking his third time on the campus since Kalen DeBoer became head coach in January.

Lee is the 10th player to commit to Alabama following an official visit this month. According to 247Sports Team Rankings, Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked second in the country, just behind Ohio State.
