Agreement Verified: Arizona Land Another Top Talented Superstar Commitment

Three-star quarterback Luke Haugo cites development in Arizona commitment

Gilbert (Ariz.) Higley quarterback Luke Haugo announced his commitment to the Arizona Wildcats and first-year coach Brent Brennan. Arizona secured its second quarterback commitment of the recruiting cycle on Tuesday with Haugo’s decision.

The new coaching staff has had a slow start, with only three recruits committed heading into summer. However, Haugo joins those confident in coach Brennan’s ability to transform the program. Here’s what you need to know about Haugo:

WHAT LUKE HAUGO SAYS ABOUT ARIZONA

“They have a system and staff where I feel I can develop into a successful QB. They have done great things in the past. With coach Dino Babers having coached both Jimmy G and RGIII, his success with QBs is unmatched.

“Their message and vision are to build the offense around me and develop me into a potential pro-type quarterback.”

WHO ELSE WAS IN THE MIX?

Haugo, a talented signal caller, had interest from Oregon State, Rice, and Utah, but the Wildcats quickly secured his commitment, marking their third overall in this cycle.

WHERE LUKE HAUGO RANKS AS A RECRUIT

Haugo is ranked as the No. 63 quarterback and No. 8 overall prospect in Arizona for the 2025 class, according to 247Sports. A standout basketball player as well, the 6-foot-5, 200-pound Haugo has completed 63 percent of his passes for 2,094 yards and 26 touchdowns over three varsity seasons, while also averaging double-digit points in basketball for the past two seasons.

HOW LUKE HAUGO FITS WITH ARIZONA

Arizona’s quarterback position has seen significant changes this offseason. Four-star QB Demond Williams transferred to Washington shortly after arriving, following former coach Jedd Fisch. Three-star QB Dash Beierly also flipped his commitment to Washington.

Three-star Robert McDaniel switched from California to Arizona in late May, setting up an intriguing competition between him and Haugo, along with former four-star Brayden Dorman and Cole Tannenbaum after Noah Fifita’s departure.

“It’s a job for anyone, and I’m confident in my abilities and faith that I’ll be fit for the job,” Haugo said.

WHAT WE THINK ABOUT LUKE HAUGO

247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins sees a bright future for Haugo in Brennan’s offense.

“He has a smooth, easy delivery, and the ball jumps out of his hand,” Biggins wrote. “He can get the ball downfield without much windup and shows very good pocket mobility. He can escape pressure, buy time, and looks comfortable throwing on the run. He can change speeds, throws with touch, makes off-platform throws, and has a good overall feel for the position.”
