The Montreal Canadiens have inked defenseman Adam Engström to a three-year entry-level contract commencing next season. Engström’s journey with Rögle has seen its share of highs and lows, with his defensive prowess sharpening following a breakout offensive display last year. This season’s performance holds heightened significance for his professional trajectory.

Concluding the season with 22 points (4 goals and 18 assists) across 51 games, Engström’s development reached a pivotal juncture, notwithstanding the broader challenges faced by Rögle throughout the season. Despite initial struggles, Rögle’s unexpected surge to the SHL Final underscored Engström’s contributions. He further tallied four assists in 15 playoff appearances.

Standing as a sizable defenseman adept at both ends of the ice, Engström demonstrated versatility by transitioning to his non-dominant side, forming a dependable defensive tandem with Brandon Davidson during Rögle’s critical late-season push.

Engström now embarks on his inaugural NHL training camp, joining the ranks of contenders vying for coveted spots on the team’s defensive roster. Originally selected in the third round as the 92nd overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, Engström’s journey to the NHL takes a significant stride forward with this contract signing.
