Florida Gators center Kingsley Eguakun, despite being undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, has emerged as one of the top prospects in college football’s undrafted pool. He has signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent, as reported by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 300 pounds, Eguakun secured a $20,000 signing bonus along with a $225,000 base salary guarantee, according to Birkett.

With an impressive collegiate career that includes 30 starts at center over five years at Florida, Eguakun brings a wealth of experience to the professional level. Reflecting on his time at Gainesville, he emphasized the invaluable experience of competing in the SEC and how it has prepared him for the challenges ahead.

However, Eguakun faced adversity in 2023 when an ankle injury sidelined him for eight games in his final college season, likely impacting his draft stock. Despite this setback, he remains optimistic and focused on making the most of his opportunities in the NFL, determined to carve out a successful career.

Eguakun’s signing with the Detroit Lions marks a significant milestone, as he becomes the first scholarship Gator to join an NFL team as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL draft.
