The New Orleans Saints are making strategic moves to fortify their roster, particularly in light of uncertainties surrounding key players like Ryan Ramczyk. ESPN’s Jordan Reid suggests that the Saints focus on bolstering their offensive line, especially given Trevor Penning’s underwhelming performance and the potential retirement of Ramczyk due to injury concerns. To address these issues, ESPN proposes selecting Olu Fashanu, an offensive tackle from Penn State, in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Fashanu is touted as a dependable pass protector, though his run-blocking skills may need refinement. His addition could provide stability to the Saints’ offensive line and safeguard quarterback Derek Carr. In the second round, ESPN projects the Saints to select Marshawn Kneeland, an edge rusher from Western Michigan, aiming to bolster their defensive prowess.

With picks in rounds five through seven, ESPN forecasts the Saints to acquire a range of talent, including Ohio State tight end Cade Stover, Oregon State wide receiver Anthony Gould, LSU defensive tackle Jordan Jefferson, Purdue running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., Arkansas cornerback Dwight McGlothern, Iowa punter Tory Taylor, and Ohio State safety Josh Proctor. These selections aim to address various positional needs and enhance the team’s overall depth.
