Mazzara: Zirkzee and Three Other Signings – Milan’s Summer Plans

As the matches progress and the summer transfer window looms closer, more specific details are surfacing regarding Milan’s intentions for the upcoming transfer period.

The recent 3-3 draw against Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium highlighted the deficiencies within Milan’s squad and their struggles with rotation this season, particularly when compared to league leaders Inter.

During the match, Simon Kjaer and Alessandro Florenzi, deployed on the right side of defense, struggled to contain Armand Lauriente, who scored twice, while Andrea Pinamonti netted the opening goal.

Luka Jovic’s lone striker role proved challenging, and Olivier Giroud had to come off the bench in an attempt to salvage a draw, although his departure is expected in the summer.

In his weekly column for MilanNews, Pietro Mazzara shared insights into Milan’s transfer plans, identifying Joshua Zirkzee as their primary target for the center-forward position due to his familiarity with Serie A and readiness for a step up.

Mazzara also confirmed the need for a defensive midfielder to provide better protection in front of the defense, along with reinforcements in central defense and right-back positions. The deficiencies in physical attributes from Florenzi and Kjaer, combined with Thiaw’s technical shortcomings, have highlighted areas for improvement in those positions.
