Behrami expressed his opinion during the post-match coverage after Milan’s victory against Fiorentina. He emphasized the importance of finding a replacement for Olivier Giroud, who is expected to depart. Behrami suggested that bringing Icardi back to Serie A from Paris Saint-Germain could significantly strengthen Milan’s squad.

He stated, “If Milan is looking to challenge Inter in the future, acquiring Icardi could be key. With the right coach and the addition of a few players, Milan could bridge the gap with Inter.”

Behrami further asserted, “Icardi would willingly return to Milan and excel as the top scorer, surpassing Lautaro Martinez. Despite facing constant criticism, Icardi possesses an exceptional temperament and remains unfazed by pressure. He is an exceptional talent.”

Other former players, including Emanuele Giaccherini, Marco Parolo, and Alessandro Matri, joined the discussion. Giaccherini stressed the importance of Milan securing a striker capable of scoring at least 15 goals, suggesting that Icardi fits the bill.

Matri proposed alternative options like Robert Lewandowski and Youssef En Nesyri but expressed his preference for Icardi among the choices presented.

Icardi’s recent performances at Galatasaray and his impressive goal-scoring record in both league and Champions League matches make him an appealing and feasible option for Milan. La Gazzetta dello Sport has even suggested that he could be a suitable successor to Giroud at Milan.
