Former Florida guard Riley Kugel has committed to joining Kansas, following his recent decision to transfer. The 6-foot-5 sophomore announced his choice via Instagram on Sunday. Kugel, who averaged 9.2 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 39.4 percent from the field in 33 games (11 starts) this past season, lost his starting position in December.

He was on the bench for the semifinals and final of the SEC tournament, in which Florida defeated Texas A&M but fell to Auburn. Despite this, Kugel did participate in Florida’s first-round loss to Colorado in the NCAA Tournament, contributing 11 points, four rebounds, and three steals in 21 minutes.

During the 2022-23 season, Kugel averaged 9.9 points and 2.8 rebounds while shooting 45.6 percent in 32 games (17 starts). Notably, he averaged 17.3 points over the final 10 games of the season and earned SEC All-Freshman honors.
