Chelsea has reportedly decided to retain defender Benoit Badiashile during the upcoming summer transfer window. Despite facing challenges since joining from Monaco midway through the 2022-23 season, Badiashile remains committed to the club, having signed a lengthy contract with the Blues.

Injuries have hindered Badiashile’s progress in England, limiting him to only 24 appearances across all competitions, during which he managed two goals and one assist. His playing time has been further restricted by various hamstring, muscular, and groin issues, resulting in just 13 appearances in the current campaign, with only seven starts in the Premier League.

However, Badiashile recently featured alongside former Monaco teammate Axel Disasi in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Burnley, signaling a potential resurgence in his role within the squad.

Despite speculation linking him with a loan move back to Ligue 1 with Lyon in January, Chelsea is determined to retain Badiashile’s services. AC Milan has reportedly shown interest in the French defender, but both the club and the player are keen on continuing their partnership, with Badiashile expressing fondness for his time at Chelsea despite the challenges.

While Badiashile will stay at Chelsea, the club is expected to undergo defensive changes in the upcoming transfer window. Thiago Silva, who has seen reduced playing time, is rumored to be leaving when his contract expires in the summer. Additionally, Trevoh Chalobah, plagued by injuries, could also depart after making only three Premier League appearances this season.
