Buffalo Bills Eyeing Division Rival’s Wide Receiver in Free Agency While the Buffalo Bills are gearing up to bolster their wide receiver corps early in the 2024 NFL Draft, reports suggest they may also explore options in free agency.

According to Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald, there’s speculation that the Bills could pursue New England Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne if he becomes a free agent. Callahan cites sources indicating that Buffalo, among three interested teams, could make a move for Bourne in free agency. He further explains the Bills’ previous interest in Bourne.

Why the Patriots should extend injured WR Kendrick Bourne - Pats Pulpit

“If the Pats fail to retain Bourne, there’s a chance he might end up with a division rival, based on past patterns,” Callahan writes. “The Jets were among the teams that inquired about Bourne over the last 18 months. When trade calls came in at the end of training camp in 2022 and 2023, the Patriots turned down offers from teams like the Raiders and Rams, stating Bourne wasn’t available. Prior to joining the Patriots as a free agent in 2021, Bourne also drew attention from the Bills and Texans, according to sources.”

Before his ACL injury this season, Bourne, aged 28, demonstrated solid performance with 37 receptions for 406 yards and four touchdowns in eight games, five of which he started. While acquiring a receiver recovering from a significant injury entails risks, Bourne’s reported progress in his recovery suggests he could be ready to take the field by Week 1.
