The offensive coordinator for Jackson State football during the recent season is departing for a new role at Auburn University. Maurice Harris, who spent just one year with JSU, joins a string of staff departures, including the defensive line coach and defensive coordinator Jonathan Bradley, and the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Jason Onyebuagu, who recently moved to South Alabama.

In loss to No. 1 Georgia, did the Auburn Tigers find a recruiting win?

Harris’s departure from Jackson State has been confirmed, as he opts to reunite with his longtime friend and head coach, Hugh Freeze, at Auburn. In his new role, Harris will serve as Auburn’s director of football and recruiting relations.

During his time at Jackson State, Harris played a pivotal role in directing the team’s offense, which proved to be highly effective. The Tigers’ offensive performance under his guidance ranked first in total offense within the SWAC, second in passing yards, and third in rushing yards. Throughout the season, Jackson State averaged 27.3 points per game.

Prior to his tenure at Jackson State, Harris worked alongside Freeze at Liberty and notably at Ole Miss, making his stop in the capital city a part of his broader coaching journey.
