Denzel Ward, the prominent player for the Cleveland Browns, issued a serious message ahead of their Wild Card matchup against the Houston Texans through an Instagram post. In the post, Ward, pictured wearing a mask on the sideline, conveyed a message reminiscent of Nick Chubb’s approach: “On A Mission, So Coming Masked Up Is The Only Option. People Don’t Fear The Mask… They Fear What’ The Person’ Behind The Mask is Capable Of. #BeLegendary.”
However, Ward’s message preceded an injury during practice, casting doubt on his availability for the crucial postseason game on Saturday. He sustained a knee injury, and despite participating in practice with limitations on Thursday, head coach Kevin Stefanski lacked detailed information about the situation.
Ward, recognized as one of the top cornerbacks in the league with three Pro Bowl selections, played a pivotal role in 13 regular-season games, securing 11 passes defensed and two interceptions. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his injury, his teammate Greg Newsome expressed confidence in Ward’s resilience.
The Browns’ secondary faces a crucial challenge against the Texans, led by standout rookie QB C.J. Stroud, who did not play in their previous encounter. Ward acknowledges the significant challenge posed by Stroud, emphasizing his accuracy, ability to make all throws, and strategic decision-making.
This postseason marks Ward’s second appearance with the Browns, and he believes this team is better equipped for success than the 2020 edition. Despite facing adversity, including injuries to key players like Nick Chubb and Deshaun Watson, the Browns, with an 11-6 record, have showcased resilience and unity, attributes that Ward believes will contribute to their success in the upcoming playoff game.
