Thelo Aasgaard made history as the first Rangers player to score an international hat-trick, netting four goals in Norway’s dominant 11-1 win over Moldova on September 9 at Ullevaal Stadion. Erling Haaland also starred in the World Cup Qualifier, scoring five times in 89 minutes. Aasgaard, formerly of Luton Town, came off the bench in the 64th minute to complete his impressive performance. With Rangers set to face Hearts on September 13, manager Russell Martin will be hoping Aasgaard returns to Glasgow in high spirits and possibly with a special memento.

Thelo Aasgaard and Erling Haaland to Share Match Ball After Norway’s Big Win Over Moldova

Following Norway’s emphatic 11-1 victory over Moldova, Erling Haaland confirmed he would be sharing the match ball with teammate Thelo Aasgaard, after both delivered standout performances. The Manchester City striker scored five goals, while Aasgaard, making just his third international appearance, netted four after coming on in the second half. YouTuber KSI had joked about whether Haaland would share the ball, prompting Haaland to post a photo on Instagram on September 9 with the caption: “Mine 1 half ball Aasgaard second half ball,” showing the two stars would split the honor.

Thelo Aasgaard in Ibrox Starting XI: How Does He Fit Into Rangers’ Setup?

Rangers face a crucial league clash against Hearts at Ibrox, with a chance to temporarily narrow the gap with leaders Celtic to just three points. Hearts, managed by Derek McInnes, have matched Celtic on points after four games, adding extra pressure on Rangers boss Russell Martin, who is expected to field his strongest lineup.

Thelo Aasgaard, signed for £3.5 million last summer, has struggled with fitness and missed the season’s early fixtures. So far, he’s made five appearances across all competitions but hasn’t made a major impact at club level.

Despite his recent standout performance for Norway scoring four goals against Moldova Aasgaard still faces tough competition at Ibrox. Lyall Cameron has impressed in the No. 10 role, while Mohamed Diomande is another regular in midfield. Nicolas Raskin is also in contention for a return after being left out of the Old Firm squad, raising questions about his role going forward.

Although Aasgaard will hope his international form earns him a starting spot, he may once again be used as a substitute against Hearts, tasked with making an impact off the bench.
