Former Newcastle co-owner Amanda Staveley has dismissed rumors linking her to a potential takeover of Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite reports suggesting Staveley was eyeing a return to the Premier League by attempting to buy Spurs, and following Daniel Levy’s unexpected exit, Tottenham quickly announced they had rejected takeover offers from two groups one involving Staveley.
Staveley has since confirmed there will be no bid for Tottenham, affirming that the club is not for sale.
Simon Jordan Praises Amanda Staveley for Newcastle Deal: “Fair Play to Her”
TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan, once a vocal critic of Amanda Staveley during the Newcastle United takeover saga, has now offered a more respectful assessment of her efforts.
Staveley spent years trying to buy Newcastle from Mike Ashley and ultimately succeeded in 2021 by helping to broker the deal involving PIF and the Reuben brothers. While speculation has linked her to a possible future move for Tottenham Hotspur, nothing concrete has materialized especially after Spurs recently rejected two takeover bids, one involving Staveley.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Jordan acknowledged Staveley’s deal-making abilities: “Amanda Staveley is a hustler. She’ll get in the middle of a deal and create an outcome. Fair play to her, she pulled off a deal at Newcastle and made a good return from it.”
He added that whether she pursues Tottenham again will likely depend on who’s willing to fund a potential takeover.
Amanda Staveley Sold All Newcastle United Shares After Gradual Stake Reduction
When Amanda Staveley helped complete the Newcastle United takeover in October 2021, her firm PCP Capital Partners held a 10% stake in the club. She was appointed to the board of directors and became the public face of the new ownership, gaining significant popularity among fans.
However, over time, Staveley’s share in the club diminished. Her stake dropped from 10% to 6%, and by July 2024, she had sold her remaining shares entirely.
Staveley officially exited the club in 2024, with her shares redistributed between the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Reuben family. PCP Capital Partners is no longer involved with Newcastle United, and Jamie Reuben has since taken on a more prominent role within the club’s leadership.
