Although France isn’t at full strength for the 2025 EuroBasket tournament, the team still boasts several notable NBA players. France has advanced to the 16-team knockout stage, aiming to build on its silver medal performance at the 2024 Olympics. Guerschon Yabusele has emerged as one of France’s key contributors during the five group stage games. The former Celtics forward started the tournament slowly but exploded against Poland, scoring 36 points on 12-for-20 shooting, including 6-for-8 from beyond the arc.
Yabusele currently leads the French team in scoring, averaging 14.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game at EuroBasket. After a sluggish start in the first three games, his standout performance against Poland boosted his averages. France will undoubtedly rely on Yabusele as long as they remain in the tournament.
France finished with a 4-1 record in Group D, with their only loss coming to Israel. They are still awaiting the final standings as the group stage concludes, but their spot in the knockout rounds is secured. The 16-team knockout phase begins this weekend.
Last season, Yabusele made his NBA comeback with the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 11.0 points and 5.6 rebounds in 70 games, including 43 starts. His impressive showing at the Paris Olympics earned him a guaranteed contract with the Sixers, where he performed well.
This summer, Yabusele signed a two-year deal with the New York Knicks, where he is expected to provide valuable depth. Following the Knicks’ Eastern Conference Finals run last season, they are looking to take the next step toward becoming a contender, and Yabusele is set to play a key role with his size and shooting ability.
