The Chicago Bulls have had a fairly quiet summer as they work through contract negotiations with restricted free agent Josh Giddey.

They did trade Lonzo Ball to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Isaac Okoro and are reportedly still open to making additional moves before the 2025-26 trade deadline. With a roster that looks very different from earlier in the decade, the rebuilding Bulls are likely to continue adjusting their lineup.

Two-time All-Star Nikola Vucevic has been linked to trade rumors for a while, but his sizable contract has made teams hesitant to pursue him. Still, an Eastern Conference team looking to add frontcourt depth could consider making an offer.

Proposed Trade: Bulls Exchange Nikola Vucevic for Anfernee Simons

Josh Canu of NBC Sports Boston recently proposed a trade that would send Anfernee Simons and his expiring contract to the Bulls in exchange for Nikola Vucevic.

Boston is focused on reducing salary this offseason, and swapping Simons for Vucevic could save them nearly \$6.2 million. With just one year left on his deal, Vucevic wouldn’t tie the Celtics to a long-term financial commitment.

Simons also has one year remaining on his contract, but the Bulls would gain a young, high-scoring guard they could assess before next summer’s free agency. Last season with the Portland Trail Blazers, Simons averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.7 rebounds over 32.7 minutes in 70 games.

Considering the trade buzz and Boston’s current frontcourt depth, a Simons-for-Vucevic deal could happen before the trade deadline.
