Jaylen Brown is making visible progress in his recovery from offseason knee surgery. The Boston Celtics star underwent an arthroscopic procedure to address a meniscus issue that lingered throughout the 2024-25 season, though it never forced him to miss significant time.

Despite playing through discomfort, Brown appeared in 63 games last year, averaging 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists while shooting 46.3 percent from the field. A minor cleanup surgery was expected once the Celtics’ season ended, and the plan has always been for him to be ready by training camp.

A recent video clip from an exhibition game in China offered an encouraging update Brown was seen dunking, suggesting he is on track with his rehab. His recovery is especially important given that Jayson Tatum is sidelined for the 2025-26 campaign after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon during the Eastern Conference semifinals.

With Tatum out, Brown will be asked to step into the No. 1 scoring role for Boston, something he hasn’t done consistently during his career despite being named Finals MVP in 2024. His health will be critical for the Celtics as they prepare for a season without their top star.

The fact that Brown is already moving well and showing explosiveness just months after surgery bodes well for his readiness on opening night.
