Newcastle United’s summer transfer frustrations have been well-documented, with Eddie Howe missing out on several top targets. Recent disappointments include Joao Pedro’s switch to Chelsea and Bryan Mbeumo’s move to Manchester United, both bypassing a potential transfer to St James’ Park.
However, there’s finally some positive news for the Magpies. According to The Athletic, Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey is keen to join Newcastle despite interest from other clubs. TBR Football previously reported that Ramsey turned down West Ham, preferring a side competing at a higher level. With Newcastle set for Champions League football, the 24-year-old views the club’s project and the chance to work under Howe as highly appealing.
Ramsey, valued at over £50 million, has caught the eye of Pep Guardiola in the past and has Champions League experience, making him a strong potential addition to Howe’s squad—whether playing as a left-winger or a No. 10.
Newcastle Compete for £22m Bilal El Khannouss
In addition, Newcastle have entered the race for Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss, rivalling Tottenham and Leeds for the Moroccan international. Leicester, relegated to the Championship last season, signed El Khannouss from Genk in 2024, with his deal including a £22m release clause.
El Khannouss impressed in Leicester’s opening Championship match, completing the most final-third passes, creating the most chances, and registering two assists in the round. Newcastle’s interest now sets the stage for a competitive battle for his signature.
