Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy admitted his team’s offense is in a slump after being swept by the Philadelphia Phillies, losing 4-2 on Sunday for their fourth straight defeat. The Rangers (60-59) scored twice in the first inning but were shut out the rest of the way by Phillies pitching, led by Zack Wheeler and Jhoan Duran. Texas is now just 3-6 in August.

Offensive struggles have been ongoing, with the Rangers failing to score more than two runs in their last five games. They entered Sunday batting .237 with runners in scoring position 24th in MLB and went just 2-for-10 in those situations during the loss, stranding six runners.

One bright spot was Joc Pederson, who hit his second home run in five days after returning from the injured list in late July. His average has climbed from .127 to .148, and the Rangers hope he can deliver consistent power for the rest of the season and into next year, as he’s under contract through 2026.

Patrick Corbin remains a concern after failing to pitch five innings for the second straight outing. He has walked three batters in each of his last three starts, and while he’s limiting runs, his inability to provide length is becoming an issue for a team that relies on him to eat innings.
