Though training camp is just getting started, wide receiver Devontez Walker is already making a strong impression. After standing out throughout the offseason, he’s carried that momentum into camp, quickly emerging as one of the most explosive playmakers on the field. With the depth of talent on the Baltimore Ravens’ offense, the coaching staff may soon have no choice but to find meaningful ways to get Walker more involved.

While several players have impressed early on, Walker has arguably made the biggest impact particularly during Saturday’s practice. According to Justin Robertson of BaltimoreRavens.com, Walker was everywhere, consistently making catches and standing out in 11-on-11 drills. One of the highlights featured a deep connection from Lamar Jackson, who hit Walker on a long throw as he separated from cornerback Nate Wiggins for a big gain.

Could 2025 Be Walker’s Breakout Year?

Walker gave Ravens fans a glimpse of his potential last season, catching a 21-yard touchdown in Week 15 against the New York Giants his only reception from just three targets. Known for his deep-threat ability, Walker’s early camp performance suggests he could become a regular contributor in Baltimore’s aerial attack if he continues to shine.

However, earning targets won’t be easy. The Ravens’ passing game surged in 2024, with Zay Flowers earning Pro Bowl honors after surpassing 1,000 receiving yards, and Rashod Bateman racking up 756 yards and nine touchdowns, earning a contract extension. The addition of veteran DeAndre Hopkins only adds to the competition, not to mention tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely, both aiming for big seasons in contract years.

Still, Walker is making his case. If Hopkins’ production continues to decline, Walker could see increased opportunities. It’s early days—with no pads yet but the buzz around Walker has been growing since his standout college season at North Carolina in 2023. If his training camp form holds, Ravens fans may be witnessing the rise of a future star.
