The Maxwell Football Club released its annual watchlist for the prestigious Maxwell Award given to the top player in college football—and two Auburn Tigers have made the cut for 2025.

Junior quarterback Jackson Arnold and sophomore wide receiver Cam Coleman were both named to the list on Monday. Arnold, a high-profile transfer from Oklahoma, is expected to lead Auburn’s offense this season after the team moved on from Payton Thorne. Coleman, meanwhile, is returning for his second year and is poised to build on a standout freshman season.

Arnold threw for 1,421 yards, 12 touchdowns, and just three interceptions last season at Oklahoma, completing 62.3% of his passes. Coleman, on the other hand, recorded 37 catches for 598 yards and eight touchdowns during his freshman year with the Tigers.

This year’s Maxwell Award watchlist features 80 players nationwide, with Auburn being one of just 16 schools to have two players included. The SEC leads all conferences with 17 selections.

According to the Maxwell Football Club, award semifinalists will be announced on November 11, with three finalists named on November 25. The winner will be revealed during the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 11.

Last year’s Maxwell Award went to Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. Auburn kicks off its 2025 campaign on Friday, August 29, with a season opener against Baylor in Texas.
