DONE DEAL: Rangers Secured New signing last Night, Another to Arrive at Ibrox in Hours

Rangers are on the verge of confirming the signing of midfielder Joe Rothwell from Bournemouth, with the 30-year-old set to reunite with head coach Russell Martin at Ibrox.

The move would mark Martin’s second signing of the summer since succeeding Barry Ferguson, and could be a catalyst for further additions as Rangers look to reshape the squad early in the transfer window.

Rothwell, who impressed during a loan spell at Leeds United last season, brings a wealth of experience and familiarity with Martin’s style of play — a factor that will benefit the team as they prepare for the new campaign. His arrival has been met with optimism among fans, but it’s clear that the Ibrox faithful are hoping he won’t be the last summer arrival.

According to the Daily Record (2 July, page 51), Conor Coady is now firmly on Rangers’ radar, with the club stepping up efforts to secure the Leicester City defender. The former England international could complete a switch to Govan within 48 hours.

Coady’s potential arrival would help fill the void left by Leon Balogun, whose contract expired at the end of the season. The 32-year-old, who boasts vast experience from spells at Wolves, Everton, and Leicester, is capable of operating in both a back four and back five system — a tactical asset for Martin moving forward.

Conor Coady Career Stats:

  • Wolves: 317 appearances
  • Everton: 25 appearances
  • Leicester City: 43 appearances
  • Huddersfield Town: 48 appearances

His addition, alongside the likes of John Souttar, could form a strong central defensive partnership as Rangers prepare for a crucial Premiership season.

Meanwhile, Rothwell — eligible to represent Scotland through his grandmother — could find himself in line for a surprise international call-up should his move to the Scottish Premiership come to fruition.

With both deals progressing swiftly, Rangers look set to make a strong statement of intent as the summer rebuild gathers momentum.
