Rangers Consider Move for Liverpool’s Owen Beck Amidst Growing Interest

Rangers are reportedly exploring a potential summer move for Liverpool’s promising left-back, Owen Beck, according to a report from The Times (via The Scottish Sun). The 22-year-old has long been on Celtic’s radar, but it appears their Glasgow rivals have now stepped up their interest in the highly sought-after defender.

Wrexham, Beck’s hometown club, are also believed to be in the race for his signature, targeting a season-long loan deal. Beck impressed during his loan spell at Blackburn Rovers last season, and his experience at Ewood Park could prove vital for Wrexham as they look to solidify their place in the Championship.

Beck, a Wales youth international, has previously had spells with Flint Town United, Tranmere Rovers, and Stoke City before joining Liverpool. Although he made a couple of senior appearances under Jurgen Klopp in the League Cup, he was loaned out to gain more first-team experience. After limited opportunities at Bolton Wanderers, he found form at Dundee and later became a key figure at Blackburn before injuries curtailed his season.

Rangers’ Financial Position and Strategic Vision

With increased financial backing following the 49ers Enterprises-led takeover spearheaded by Andrew Cavenagh, Rangers are now equipped with an estimated £20 million for summer recruitment. The possible transfer of Hamza Igamane to Lille could further boost the club’s budget for squad improvements.

Rangers manager Russell Martin views Beck as an ideal fit for his system, valuing the youngster’s ability to contribute both defensively and offensively. The potential departure of Ridvan Yilmaz to Besiktas and ongoing fitness concerns around current left-back Jefte make left-back reinforcements a key priority.

While Liverpool still rate Beck highly, the arrival of Milos Kerkez has complicated his future at Anfield, making a loan or permanent move increasingly likely. For Rangers, securing Beck would not only provide crucial depth ahead of Champions League qualifiers but also signal their intent to strengthen with young, dynamic talent.
