Wrexham’s stunning 2024/25 season capped by promotion from League One was full of unforgettable moments, and now fans are getting a behind-the-scenes look at one of the wildest yet: Ryan Reynolds’ passionate pre-match speech to the players during the final stretch of the campaign.
In what’s now been revealed in Welcome to Wrexham Season 4, Episode 7 (released June 20 in the UK), Reynolds delivered a fiery message to the team ahead of a crucial clash against Burton Albion a must-win match in their race for automatic promotion.
At the time, Wrexham were clinging to second place in the table after a frustrating 2-2 draw with Cambridge United the week before. With Wycombe Wanderers still within reach, there was no room for error.
Reynolds showed up at the training ground and, stepping into the dressing room, fired up the squad with a message that’s now gone viral:
“Isn’t it f—— crazy though how this f—— club every year ends up in this moment and every year we find a way.
And I would like to say a prayer to the football gods. Let’s just all hold hands around this thing and let’s have one ‘let’s f—— go’.
One, two, three — LET’S F—— GO!”
That electric message clearly worked Wrexham stormed to a 3-0 win over Burton, and weeks later, clinched promotion on April 26 with another 3-0 victory, this time against Charlton Athletic.
Burton’s Wrexham Connection Fades
Interestingly, that same Burton team had become a temporary home for three former Wrexham players: James Jones, Anthony Forde, and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, all of whom left the Racecourse midseason.
Forde featured off the bench in the BurtonWrexham clash, while Bodvarsson despite missing that game made an impact with 5 goals and an assist in 15 League One appearances. However, it’s now been confirmed that Bodvarsson will be leaving Burton at the end of June when his contract expires.
