Bills Encouraged to Support Struggling Milano by Signing 5-Time Pro Bowler

Despite focusing heavily on defense in the recent NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills largely overlooked their linebacker group — leaving star Matt Milano with little added support. One NFL analyst believes the team still has time to make a major addition that could bolster the unit: signing veteran linebacker and former division rival C.J. Mosley.

Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus noted that injuries and underwhelming performances from players like Terrel Bernard and Baylon Spector have weakened what was once a strength for Buffalo. Given Milano’s injury history and uncertain reliability, Cameron suggests Mosley would bring valuable veteran stability.

C.J. Mosley

“Former division rival C.J. Mosley could be the answer,” Cameron wrote, pointing out that while Mosley missed much of the 2024 season due to injury, he had played over 1,000 snaps in each of the prior three years and earned an 82.9 PFF grade in his last full season. Known for his consistency, Mosley recorded over 150 tackles in three of the last four years.

Milano’s Future With the Bills in Question

Matt Milano, once one of the league’s top linebackers, has struggled to return to form after a major leg injury. With only 544 snaps played since 2023 and a noticeable drop in performance, some analysts suggest the Bills might consider trading him while his value is still reasonably high.

Bradley Locker of PFF pointed out that although Milano was elite in 2022, his more recent output and injury concerns make his long-term role with the team uncertain. This situation mirrors Buffalo’s decision to trade Stefon Diggs to the Texans in a cap-conscious move.

If the Bills go a similar route with Milano, it could pave the way for a veteran like Mosley to step in and become a key part of the defense.
