Rangers have been highly active in the transfer market, bringing in seven new signings ahead of the deadline.
Much of the focus has centered around their attacking options, with Cyriel Dessers expected to leave the club before the window closes. Under-pressure manager Russell Martin will be hoping his new forwards can make an immediate impact and help win back the support of the Rangers fanbase.
After selling Hamza Igamane and securing Bojan Miovski as his replacement, Rangers are still working to strengthen their front line, with another striker reportedly close to joining the squad.
Chermiti Nears £8m Rangers Move After Arriving at Training Ground
Sky Sports reports that Youssef Chermiti has arrived at Rangers’ training centre as he prepares to complete an £8 million transfer to the Scottish club. The Portuguese striker joined Everton in 2023 in a £15 million deal, brought in by Kevin Thelwell—now the sporting director at Rangers.
However, Chermiti has slipped down the pecking order at Everton, with Beto and Thierno Barry preferred up front. As a result, manager David Moyes was unable to offer him regular playing time.
The 20-year-old has yet to make his mark in England, having failed to score in 24 appearances for Everton. Despite showing early promise in Portugal, his development has stalled:
- 6 goals in 17 appearances for Sporting B and U19 sides
- 3 goals in 22 games for Sporting’s senior team
- 0 goals in 24 matches for Everton
Now, with Rangers investing heavily in the young forward, supporters at Ibrox will be hoping he can finally tap into his potential and play a key role in turning the team’s season around.
Cyriel Dessers Poised for Move to Greek Side Panathinaikos
Cyriel Dessers is close to completing a transfer to Greek club Panathinaikos, having arrived in Athens earlier on Monday, according to Sky Sports.
Following Rangers’ 0-0 draw with Celtic, manager Russell Martin indicated that the match was likely Dessers’ final appearance for the club.
Since joining Rangers from Cremonese two years ago, Dessers has been a key player, consistently delivering strong performances with impressive goal-scoring and reliability.
Dessers’ Rangers Stats:
- Appearances: 116
- Goals: 52
- Assists: 14
New signings Bojan Miovski and Youssef Chermiti will face the challenge of matching or surpassing Dessers’ contributions if they hope to elevate Rangers’ attacking threat.
