Jorgen Strand Larsen’s agent has spoken out regarding the striker’s future amid multiple bids from Newcastle United. Newcastle had a £55 million offer rejected by Wolverhampton Wanderers for the 25-year-old forward, who scored 14 Premier League goals last season while on loan from Celta Vigo.

Wolves made the loan move permanent in the summer for £23 million, but Newcastle later tried to more than double that amount with a late bid. The Magpies have been actively seeking forwards all summer and finalized two significant signings in the closing week of the transfer window: German striker Nick Woltemade for a club-record £65 million from VfB Stuttgart, and Yoane Wissa from Brentford for £55 million.

Strand Larsen was reportedly interested in joining Newcastle, and his absence from Wolves’ squad over the weekend added to the transfer rumors. However, his absence was due to an Achilles injury, and Wolves’ head coach Vitor Pereira stated after the match that he expects Strand Larsen to remain at the club beyond the transfer deadline.

This was later confirmed by Strand Larsen’s agent, Tore Pedersen, who told Norwegian media VG that the player would not be moving to Newcastle and would stay with Wolves. This comes after Newcastle’s acquisition of Woltemade and the near-completion of Wissa’s deal.

On deadline day, Strand Larsen was traveling to join the Norway national team for upcoming matches, not moving clubs. Newcastle were willing to pay up to £60 million, which would have been a record transfer fee for a Norwegian player, surpassing Erling Haaland’s £51 million move to Manchester City in 2022.

Strand Larsen is scheduled to visit St James’ Park later this month when Newcastle face Wolves in their first Premier League game following the transfer window, on September 13.
