Fabrizio Romano has provided a key update on speculation that Tottenham Hotspur might swap in form forward Richarlison for a Newcastle United player before the summer transfer window closes.
Spurs are aiming to add two or three more signings to Thomas Frank’s squad before deadline day, targeting a winger, a creative midfielder, a centre back, and possibly another striker. At the same time, the club is preparing exits for Yves Bissouma and young defender Luka Vuskovic.
Despite Richarlison’s strong start to the season starting ahead of Dominic Solanke in the opening Premier League matches rumours of his departure have continued. The Brazilian was even linked with a potential late move in a deal for Eberechi Eze, though that plan collapsed.
Richarlison’s recent display in the win over Manchester City reinforced his value to Frank’s team, but Newcastle’s search for a striker amid Alexander Isak’s absence and Callum Wilson’s departure reportedly led them to test Spurs’ resolve. The Magpies have already failed with moves for Yoane Wissa and Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Speaking on the Men In Blazers podcast, Romano downplayed the idea of a Richarlison exit:
“There are always rumours about him in every window, but nothing is close. Richarlison is happy at Tottenham and Thomas Frank is very happy with him. I don’t see him leaving. Spurs will add attackers, but not at the expense of Richarlison.”
Frank also stressed his commitment to the Brazilian ahead of the Manchester City clash:
“From day one, Richarlison told me he wanted to stay. He’s worked hard, shown commitment in training, and we’re managing him carefully given his injury history. I see a very dedicated player.”
With the World Cup on the horizon, Richarlison is determined to remain central to Spurs’ plans – and both the player and manager appear aligned on his future in north London.
