Newcastle United have finalised the £40million signing of Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, according to GIVEMESPORT. The 24-year-old completed his medical in Tyneside last night ahead of the move, ending the Magpies’ pursuit of the former England Under-21 international.
Ramsey’s departure comes as Villa look to ease profit and sustainability pressures. Limited game time last season, with Unai Emery favouring new arrivals Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford, left Ramsey frustrated. His sale, as an academy product, allows Villa to record the full transfer fee as pure profit, helping balance their financial accounts after UEFA imposed a £5m fine (with a further £15m suspended) for breaching regulations.
Villa recently signed Evann Guessand for £30million, who may serve as Ramsey’s replacement. The two sides will now meet in the Premier League this weekend as the new season kicks off.
