Glasgow Rangers could be set for another transfer coup similar to Djeidi Gassama’s arrival, with the club submitting a bid for Hull City winger Abu Kamara.
Gassama, signed from Sheffield Wednesday for £2.2m this summer, has made a flying start at Ibrox, scoring four goals in six matches and thrilling fans with his pace, skill, and finishing. Manager Russell Martin will be hoping for a similar impact from Kamara, should a deal be completed.
According to HullLive, Rangers have opened talks with Hull over the 21-year-old England U20 international, with an asking price of £3.5m. LaLiga side Getafe and Birmingham City have also tabled offers, with Getafe currently seen as favourites, though there is belief the player has already played his last game for Hull.
Kamara, a left-footed right winger, offers a different profile to right-footed counterpart Oliver Antman and has shown he can be both a scorer and creator. Last season in the Championship, he scored five goals, provided three assists, and created seven big chances outperforming Gassama in creativity, while posting similar goal involvement stats.
His standout loan spell at Portsmouth in 2023/24, where he tallied ten goals and 11 assists, underlines his attacking potential. For a fee just above what Rangers paid for Gassama, Kamara could be another shrewd addition if the club can persuade him to choose Ibrox over Getafe and Birmingham.
