The Baltimore Orioles suffered another setback in a difficult season, as outfielder Tyler O’Neill was forced to leave Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies with right wrist discomfort. The Orioles went on to lose 5–0, falling to 51–63 and remaining at the bottom of the AL East standings.

The injury occurred in the later innings at Citizens Bank Park. MASN’s Roch Kubatko was first to report the change on social media, noting that Ryan Noda was preparing to pinch-hit for O’Neill. Moments later, he confirmed the cause: discomfort in O’Neill’s right wrist.

O’Neill’s exit adds to a growing list of injury troubles. After signing a three-year, $48 million deal this offseason, the two-time Gold Glove winner has already missed significant time in 2025 due to neck inflammation, a shoulder impingement, and a recent illness. He had just returned to the lineup last week.

So far this season, O’Neill is batting .213 with eight home runs and 23 RBIs in 42 games. Expected to be a powerful veteran presence in Baltimore’s lineup, his impact has been limited by frequent absences.

His latest injury leaves the Orioles scrambling again. Ryan Noda, recently claimed off waivers from the White Sox, took his place but doesn’t offer the same offensive upside. Though versatile, Noda has mostly served as a bench player since debuting with Oakland in 2023.

The timing of O’Neill’s injury adds more strain to an already injury-depleted Orioles roster. Baltimore is without several key players, including Grayson Rodriguez, Ryan Mountcastle, Gary Sanchez, Tyler Wells, and Kyle Bradish. Additional names like Félix Bautista, Zach Eflin, and Jorge Mateo are also sidelined.

For a team not in playoff contention and focused on long-term development, this latest setback complicates efforts to build cohesion and evaluate their roster heading into the final stretch of the season.
