Glasgow Rangers, active in a busy summer transfer window, reportedly reached out to a familiar face of manager Russell Martin former Premier League winger Moussa Djenepo for a potential move to Ibrox earlier this summer.

Antman Secures Ibrox Move

Instead, the club secured the signing of Oliver Antman, a former Go Ahead Eagles winger, for around £4 million. Speaking after his arrival, Antman expressed his excitement about joining a “huge club” like Rangers and said he’s ready to contribute immediately.

“The past few days have been hectic, but I’m now ready to settle in,” he told Rangers’ official website. “I haven’t seen Ibrox yet, but I’ve heard it’s something special. I’m fit, I’ve trained for over a month and played several matches. I know Scottish football is more physical, but I’m prepared to learn and win because at Rangers, every game is a must-win.”

After tallying 7 goals and 17 assists last season, Antman arrives with high expectations.

Djenepo Was Also a Target

According to Africa Foot, Rangers also approached Standard Liege winger Moussa Djenepo about a move earlier in the transfer window. The former Southampton player, now 27, had briefly played under Russell Martin at Saints and could’ve been set for a reunion in Glasgow. Though the deal never materialized, the move might have offered Djenepo a chance to recapture the form that once earned him praise from former manager Ralph Hasenhüttl, who called him “fantastic” during his time in the Premier League.

Ultimately, Rangers opted for Antman but Djenepo’s name remains an intriguing “what if” from the summer window.
