Rangers may be facing a potential issue with midfielder Nico Raskin, who is reportedly considering leaving the club despite being under contract until 2027. Interest in the 24-year-old has grown following a strong season at Ibrox, and his recent omission from the starting lineup in the 3-0 Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen on August 5 has raised eyebrows.
Although Raskin came off the bench in the 64th minute to replace Joe Rothwell, his exclusion sparked speculation about his future especially given manager Russell Martin’s criticism of the squad after their 1-1 draw with Motherwell on August 2.
According to Daily Record journalist Keith Jackson, the relationship between Martin and Raskin could be a key factor in whether new contract talks move forward. Speaking on Hotline Live, Jackson suggested that any friction between the two might complicate efforts to offer Raskin an extension even if the club is willing to increase his wages.
“If Raskin doesn’t feel trusted, valued, or part of Martin’s core leadership group, he might decide this summer is the right time to consider his options,” Jackson said.
With the transfer window open until the end of August, Raskin’s future at Rangers remains uncertain.
