Glasgow Rangers have reportedly reached an agreement to sign highly-rated winger Oliver Antman in a £3 million move from Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles, according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.
The news comes after a frustrating start to the Scottish Premiership season, with Rangers drawing 1-1 away to Motherwell after conceding a late equalizer. Manager Russell Martin didn’t hide his dissatisfaction, calling out certain players for their mentality and saying some needed to “drop their ego.” He also stressed the need for better performance management, particularly around European fixtures, stating that the club must handle the busy schedule more effectively.
In response to the underwhelming result and clear areas of concern in the squad, Rangers are pushing forward in the transfer market and the deal for Antman looks like a major step forward.
Joseph confirmed on X that a deal in principle has been agreed to bring the 23-year-old Finnish international to Ibrox. The versatile winger, who has impressed for club and country, has been previously praised by former Dutch star Ibrahim Afellay, who called him “a truly great player” and noted his intelligence, technical skill, and attacking depth.
Antman has already made an impact at international level, scoring 7 goals in 22 appearances for Finland, and contributed 16 assists in just 36 games last season for Go Ahead Eagles. His ability to play on either wing and his strong creative numbers suggest he could be a vital addition for Russell Martin’s side.
With Rangers seeking more firepower and quality in wide areas, Antman’s arrival could be exactly what the club needs to bounce back from a disappointing league opener.
